Located just 12 degrees north of the equator, it’s always summer in Aruba.
One of the most southerly islands in the Caribbean in a cluster known as the Netherland Antilles,
Aruba is only 20 miles off the northern coast of South America.
Aruba is a relatively small island, just 19.6 miles long and six miles across at its widest point
with a total land area of 70 square miles.
Aruba’s vegetation is desert-like with a variety of cacti growing amid dramatic rock formations
in the interior. The windward northeast coast is rugged and wild with crashing waves and
beautiful scenery while the south and west coasts feature miles of pristine white beaches
rimmed by calm turquoise water considered to be some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
The old Dutch capital city of Oranjestad with it's tall multicolored houses, is the place to do some
duty free shopping for luxury items, or to browse in the marketplace for Aruban art and local handicrafts.
Historical museums are filled with artifacts and exhibits of the island's colorful past.
Arubans are fluent in several languages including English and Spanish, but their official language
is Dutch. You will also hear the local language of Papiamento, a melodic, lilting eclectic mixture
of Spanish, Dutch and Portuguese.
The average daytime air temperature is 85 degrees; water temperature averages 78 degrees yearly with
12 hours of sunshine.
