Bajan cuisine delights the appetite with a variety of local delicacies, which can be found on menus
at almost any restaurant. Flying fish is an island tradition, Cou-Cou is a local favorite made
from corn meal and okra. Fresh vegetables and fruits are grown locally and include mangos,
papayas, bananas, guavas, avocado, breadfruit, yams, eggplant and familiar salad vegetables.
Local rum drinks are an essential element in the Barbados experience.
Caribbean rhythms fill the streets of Barbados at night. St. Lawrence Gap has a number of good
restaurants and popular night clubs for late night dancing to calypso and reggae. This island
is home to approximately 1,600 rum shops and countless pubs and bars.
